The Master of Puppets asked:

My mom wants to take our cat in to get it shaved because “it’s leaving fur everywhere.” Aside from looking terrible, this could be bad for a cat, right? How can I convince my mom not to do this?

Actually shaving a cat, if they are long haired, is a good way to keep them cool for summer or if they are too old to groom themselves. Plus, their fur feels amazing and velvety afterward!

It’s not necessarily bad for a cat, but if it doesn’t need to be done….”If it don’t need fixin’ don’t fix it”.
All cats leave hair. As for what to say to her, I don’t know what to tell you.

Get one of those Furminators and keep the cat groomed.

You can also take it to a groomer, who will do the work for you. We had a Persian that we took for bathing and also got him a “puppy cut” a few times a year. It helped a lot, but he was a long-haired breed. It’s not cheap to do it.

A short haired cat is easy to groom yourself, and the Furminator is a great tool.

Nix on the shaving. The cat will win that battle.

Don’t ever shave an animal bald if it shed, never do that! All you have to do is Say, mom we can shave its hair, but not all of it. Just leave some.

Imagine you being ***** everywhere lol

As long as you get it done at a groomer there’s nothing wrong with shaving a cat.

ok take her by the shoulders and shake her real good.
ITS NOT RIGHT TO SHAVE A CAT!!
    Is she crazy!?
    Jeeeez!
They need that fur to stay warm!
Either take it to get it groomed or brush it like everyother day to stop so much hair from falling out!
